The Annual Day event, as on date attracts over 700 people from Chennai and outside and is normally a full day event filled with networking, games and fun, stage entertainment and of course the main attraction of BADUGATTA with our traditional band and music which makes news and waves across the community with social media. This deed has reached far and wide among the community and hailed as one of the noteworthy activities of the association. The association members always came to the fore when it comes to help sought by community members in case of serious illness, accidents resulting in hospitalization, unfortunate death both among the families of the members and others.Īs on date BWACH has been committed to the noble service of being present for unfortunate deaths of members of the community and helping the family for completion of all formalities including support to get ambulance assistance apart from cash benefit of Rs.10000 to the bereaved family. This was created with an aim to support the association financially and as a place to stay by the community members traveling to Chennai. A few milestones and seminal activities of the association, are worth mentioning:įederation of Badaga Associations (FBA) was formed with pioneering support by BWACH in the year Īn apartment in the Belly Area, Anna Nagar was bought by BWACH which was possible by the untiring effort of the association, ably supported by the contributions from the members of community living across the country. Over the years the association has evolved in its activities and today stands as force to reckon with among fellow associations across the country. Being quite away from our mother district, the Annual Get-together has been an event in the calendar, not to be missed by the members of BWACH. Since the beginning, BWACH has been a networking hub for all the community members in and around Chennai. It’s noteworthy to mention that BWACH with the able support of the associations in Bangalore and other parts of the State, took the lead in creating the Young Badaga Association (YBA) in Udhagamandalam (Ooty) with a building which is an important landmark in the Queen of Hill Stations till date. In fact, all the employed people and the students in Chennai came together and formed this association, a pioneering effort which was followed by formation of similar associations across the state and even outside the state.
Started in 1968, the BADAGAR WELFARE ASSOCIATION, CHENNAI (BWACH) has come a long way in fostering the common interests of the community members in Chennai.
